Origin & History
From the early 17th century, 'pug' was used as a term of endearment meaning “darling/sweetheart,” later applied to the dog breed; the exact origin is uncertain.
17वीं शताब्दी की शुरुआत में 'pug' प्यार से पुकारने के लिए “प्रिय/प्यारा” अर्थ में प्रयोग होता था; बाद में यह कुत्ते की इस नस्ल के लिए प्रचलित हो गया; इसकी सटीक व्युत्पत्ति निश्चित नहीं है।
Definition
A pug is a small companion dog breed known for its flat, short nose, round head, large eyes, and curled tail; the word has also been used historically for a small hardy horse and, in older slang, for a gorilla.
पग एक छोटा पालतू कुत्ते की नस्ल है जिसकी पहचान चपटी/छोटी नाक, गोल सिर, बड़ी आँखें और मुड़ी हुई पूँछ से होती है; यह शब्द ऐतिहासिक रूप से छोटे मज़बूत घोड़े और पुराने बोलचाल में गोरिल्ला के लिए भी प्रयुक्त हुआ है।
