From New Latin phosphorus, from Greek phōsphoros meaning 'light-bringer' (phōs 'light' + phoros 'bearing'), originally used as a name for the morning star; the element was named for its glow.
नव-लैटिन phosphorus से, जो यूनानी phōsphoros ‘प्रकाश लाने वाला’ (phōs ‘प्रकाश’ + phoros ‘धारण करने वाला’) से आया; मूलतः यह ‘भोर के तारे’ के लिए प्रयुक्त नाम था, और तत्व का नाम इसकी चमक/दीप्ति के कारण पड़ा।
Definition
Phosphorus is a chemical element (P) that occurs in several forms (notably white, red, and black), is highly reactive, and is vital in biology as part of DNA, RNA, ATP, and bones/teeth (phosphates); it is commonly used in fertilizers, detergents, and some industrial chemicals, and certain forms can ignite easily and are hazardous.
