Origin & History
From Latin pedunculus, diminutive of pes/pedis (“foot”), via French, originally meaning a little foot/stalk.
लैटिन pedunculus से (pes/pedis “पाँव” का लघुरूप), फ्रेंच के माध्यम से; मूल अर्थ “छोटा पाँव/डंठल” (अर्थात सहारा देने वाली डंडी) था।
Definition
A peduncle is the main stalk that connects a single flower or an entire inflorescence (flower cluster) to the plant’s stem, and it can also refer to a stalk-like part in animals (e.g., supporting an organ).
पेडंकल वह मुख्य डंठल/डंडी है जो किसी एक फूल या पूरे पुष्पक्रम (फूलों के गुच्छे) को पौधे के तने से जोड़ती है; प्राणीविज्ञान में यह किसी अंग को सहारा देने वाली डंठल जैसी संरचना के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता है।
