लैटिन panīcula (“गुच्छा/छोटी गांठ”), जो panus (“सूजन; बाजरे का बाल/कण्ठ”) का लघुरूप है, फ्रेंच के माध्यम से अंग्रेज़ी में आया; वनस्पति-विज्ञान में शाखायुक्त पुष्प-गुच्छ के अर्थ में प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
A panicle is a loose, branching flower cluster in which the main stem bears branches that themselves bear smaller stalked flowers; botanically it is a compound raceme.
पैनिकल एक ढीला, शाखायुक्त पुष्प-गुच्छ होता है जिसमें मुख्य डंठल से शाखाएँ निकलती हैं और उन शाखाओं पर छोटे-छोटे डंठल वाले फूल लगते हैं; वनस्पति-विज्ञान में इसे यौगिक रेसिम (compound raceme) कहा जाता है।
