यह out + संज्ञा-निर्माण प्रत्यय -ness से बना है; 20वीं सदी के उत्तरार्ध में सामाजिक/मनोवैज्ञानिक लेखन में LGBTQ+ पहचान के ‘खुलासे’ की मात्रा/स्तर बताने के लिए इसका प्रचलन बढ़ा।
Definition
Outness is the degree to which someone is open about their sexual orientation or gender identity (being ‘out’), or more generally the condition of being outside/externally present rather than inside.
‘आउटनेस’ वह स्तर/मात्रा है जिससे कोई व्यक्ति अपनी यौन अभिविन्यास या लैंगिक पहचान के बारे में खुला होता है (यानी ‘आउट’ होना); व्यापक अर्थ में यह अंदर की बजाय बाहर/अलग/खुले में होने की स्थिति भी है।
