Definition
“Mottos” is the plural form of “motto” and refers mainly to short, memorable phrases that express a guiding principle or aim (e.g., a school or organization’s guiding line). It can also mean a phrase on a coat of arms in heraldry, and more rarely a small packet (e.g., with a sweet) that includes a slip of paper bearing a motto.
