यूनानी monos (अर्थ: “एक/एकल”) + tropos (अर्थ: “ढंग/रूप/परिवर्तन”) तथा वैज्ञानिक प्रत्यय -y से; वैज्ञानिक अंग्रेज़ी में “एक ही स्थिर रूप” की अवधारणा के लिए प्रयुक्त।
Definition
Monotropy is the condition in which a substance exists in only one stable structural or crystalline form under given conditions; it contrasts with polymorphism, where multiple forms can exist.
मोनोट्रॉपी वह अवस्था/गुण है जिसमें कोई पदार्थ दी गई परिस्थितियों में केवल एक ही स्थिर संरचनात्मक या स्फटिकी रूप में मौजूद रहता है; यह पॉलीमॉर्फ़िज़्म के विपरीत है, जहाँ एक से अधिक रूप संभव होते हैं।
