From Mecca, the holy city in Islam (Arabic: Makkah), used figuratively in English from the 19th century to mean a place people visit as if on pilgrimage.
इस्लाम के पवित्र नगर Mecca (अरबी: मक्का/मक्काह) से; अंग्रेज़ी में 19वीं शताब्दी से रूपक रूप में ‘तीर्थ जैसा आकर्षण रखने वाला प्रमुख स्थान’ के अर्थ में प्रयोग होने लगा।
