Definition
Meccan refers to something from or connected with Mecca (Makkah), especially its people, culture, or the early period of Islam (e.g., the “Meccan” chapters of the Qur’an). It can also mean a person from Mecca; in older usage it was sometimes used to mean “Muslim,” though this sense is now dated and can be inappropriate.
Meccan का अर्थ मक्का (मक्काह) से संबंधित—उसके लोगों, संस्कृति या इस्लाम के प्रारम्भिक “मक्की” काल से जुड़ा हुआ होता है (जैसे क़ुरआन की “मक्की” सूरतें)। इसका अर्थ मक्का का निवासी भी हो सकता है; पुराने प्रयोग में कभी-कभी इसे “मुसलमान” के अर्थ में भी इस्तेमाल किया गया, पर यह अर्थ अब पुराना/अप्रचलित है और अनुचित भी माना जा सकता है।
