Definition
Mayapples are perennial woodland plants native to eastern North America, known for their umbrella-shaped leaves and a single white spring flower that can develop into a yellowish fruit; most parts (especially leaves and rhizomes) are toxic, while only fully ripe fruit is sometimes eaten.
