Masting has three main senses: (1) nautical—supplying and fitting a mast to a ship; (2) zoological—animals (e.g., swine) feeding on forest nuts/seeds/fruits called mast; (3) ecological—plants showing multi‑year cycles of very high seed/fruit output (mast years) and low output in other years.
'Masting' के तीन मुख्य अर्थ हैं: (1) नौकायन—जहाज़ को मस्तूल देना/लगाना; (2) प्राणी-विज्ञान—सूअर आदि का जंगल के बीज/मेवे/फलों (मास्ट) पर चरना/खाना; (3) पारिस्थितिकी—पौधों में कई वर्षों के चक्र में कभी बहुत अधिक और कभी कम फल/बीज बनना (मास्ट-वर्ष/मास्ट-सीडिंग).
