Definition
Lotus refers mainly to the sacred aquatic plant Nelumbo (often called the Indian lotus), and sometimes to water lilies (Nymphaea). It is widely known for its large floating leaves and striking pink/white flowers, and it is a strong symbol of purity and spiritual awakening in South Asian traditions.
कमल मुख्यतः पवित्र जलीय पौधे Nelumbo (जिसे भारतीय कमल कहा जाता है) के लिए प्रयुक्त होता है, और कभी-कभी जलकुमुदिनी/वॉटर लिली (Nymphaea) के लिए भी। इसकी बड़ी तैरती पत्तियाँ और आकर्षक गुलाबी/सफेद फूल प्रसिद्ध हैं, तथा दक्षिण एशियाई परंपराओं में यह पवित्रता और आध्यात्मिक जागरण का प्रमुख प्रतीक माना जाता है।
