From Hindi/Urdu “loṭā” (लोटा), meaning a small rounded water vessel; later extended in Indian English political usage to mean a turncoat/party-switcher.
हिन्दी/उर्दू “लोटा/لوٹا (loṭā)” से, जिसका अर्थ छोटा गोल पानी का बर्तन है; बाद में भारतीय अंग्रेज़ी के राजनीतिक प्रयोग में अर्थ-विस्तार होकर “दल/निष्ठा बदलने वाला” भी हो गया।
