From English leg + the suffix -ing; the noun sense for a leg covering developed from the idea of something pertaining to or covering the leg (attested in later English).
अंग्रेज़ी leg (टांग) + प्रत्यय -ing से बना; ‘टांग ढकने वाले परिधान’ वाला संज्ञा अर्थ ‘टांग से संबंधित/टांग को ढकने वाली वस्तु’ की धारणा से बाद के अंग्रेज़ी प्रयोग में विकसित हुआ।
Definition
In common modern use, a legging is a tight-fitting garment covering the legs (often worn for exercise or as casual wear); historically it can also mean a leather covering worn from knee to ankle, and it may also refer to one trouser leg. As a verb (rare/specialized), it can mean removing legs from an animal carcass, adding legs/supports to a platform, applying leg force (e.g., to urge a horse), or placing a multi-strike options position (“legging in”) in trading.
