From the verb “leech,” originally referring to the blood-sucking worm; from Old English “lǣce” (physician), later associated with leeches used in bloodletting, and then the animal itself; figurative sense ‘exploit’ developed later.
“Leech” शब्द की जड़ें पुराने अंग्रेज़ी “lǣce” (चिकित्सक) से जुड़ी हैं; रक्तमोक्षण (bloodletting) में जोंक के उपयोग के कारण यह शब्द जोंक (blood-sucking worm) से जुड़ गया और बाद में उसी प्राणी के अर्थ में प्रचलित हुआ। आगे चलकर ‘शोषण करना/चूस लेना’ का रूपक अर्थ विकसित हुआ।

“Leeched” describes something (often a leech) that attached itself and sucked blood, or a person/group that took resources unfairly or drained someone’s energy.
“Leeched” का अर्थ है (अक्सर जोंक का) चिपककर खून चूसना, या किसी व्यक्ति/समूह का अनुचित तरीके से दूसरों के पैसे, संसाधन या ऊर्जा का शोषण करके उन्हें ‘खोखला’ कर देना।
