ग्रीक ‘लेक्टोस’ (अर्थ: ‘चुना हुआ’) + ‘टाइप’ से; वर्गिकी नामकरण में उस टाइप के लिए प्रयुक्त जो बाद में मूल सामग्री में से चुना जाता है।
Definition
In biological taxonomy, a lectotype is a specimen (or illustration) selected from the original series to act as the definitive name-bearing type for a species when the author did not designate a holotype, or when the holotype is missing or unusable.
जैविक वर्गिकी में, लेक्टोटाइप वह नमूना (या चित्र) है जिसे मूल सामग्री/श्रृंखला में से चुनकर किसी प्रजाति के नाम का निर्णायक “टाइप” बनाया जाता है, जब मूल लेखक ने होलोटाइप निर्दिष्ट नहीं किया हो, या होलोटाइप गुम/अप्रयोज्य हो।
