From Hindi/Urdu 'Jagannāth' (Jagannath, a form of Vishnu) via English accounts of the Puri festival; the modern figurative sense of an unstoppable force developed in English in the 19th century.
हिंदी/उर्दू 'जगन्नाथ' (विष्णु के एक रूप) से, जिसे अंग्रेज़ी यात्रावृत्तांतों/वर्णनों द्वारा पुरी की रथ-यात्रा के संदर्भ में अपनाया गया; अंग्रेज़ी में 19वीं शताब्दी में इसका आधुनिक रूपक अर्थ 'अपराजेय/अवरोधहीन शक्ति' के रूप में विकसित हुआ।
Definition
A juggernaut is something that seems overwhelmingly powerful and cannot be stopped or resisted, often used for a dominant company, political movement, or person; in older historical usage it referred to the massive ceremonial chariot of Lord Jagannath in Puri.
'जगरनॉट' किसी ऐसी अत्यंत शक्तिशाली और अपराजेय शक्ति (व्यक्ति, संगठन या आंदोलन) को कहते हैं जिसे रोकना मुश्किल हो; पुराने ऐतिहासिक प्रयोग में यह पुरी के भगवान जगन्नाथ की विशाल रथ-यात्रा के रथ के लिए भी प्रयुक्त होता था।
