Humorous

/ˈhjuːməɹəs/

Origin & History

From Middle English humorous, from Latin hūmōr 'moisture, fluid' (source of the medieval theory of the bodily humours, later linked to temperament and mood), ultimately from PIE *sueh₂- 'wet'.

Definition

Humorous describes someone or something that is funny or shows wit; it can also (rarely/archaically) mean damp or influenced by mood (whimsical).
