लैटिन मूल के humus (मिट्टी/ह्यूमस) + -ify (‘बनाना/में बदल देना’) से बना, और वैज्ञानिक/मृदा-विज्ञान के प्रयोग में प्रचलित।
Definition
To humify means to turn dead plant/animal material in soil into humus through decomposition by microorganisms, making soil darker and more fertile.
humify का अर्थ है मिट्टी में मौजूद मृत पौधों/जानवरों के जैविक पदार्थ का सूक्ष्मजीवों द्वारा अपघटन होकर ह्यूमस (काली, उपजाऊ जैविक परत) में बदल जाना या बदल देना।
