From Greek helix (“a spiral, something wound”), via New Latin/modern scientific Latin helicitas + English suffix -ity.
यूनानी शब्द helix (अर्थ: सर्पिल/कुंडली) से, न्यू लैटिन/आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक लैटिन helicitas के माध्यम से, और अंग्रेज़ी प्रत्यय -ity जोड़कर बना।
Definition
Helicity refers (1) to the quality of being helical—twisted like a corkscrew—and (2) in physics, to a quantity that captures the “handedness” or twist of motion/fields; in particle physics it is the projection of a particle’s spin (angular momentum) onto its direction of motion, and in fluid dynamics it measures how much a flow spirals (often related to the alignment of velocity and vorticity).
हेलिसिटी (1) हेलिकल/सर्पिल आकार होने का गुण है—जैसे कॉर्कस्क्रू की तरह मरोड़—और (2) भौतिकी में यह गति/क्षेत्रों की “दक्षिणावर्त/वामावर्त” (handedness) या ट्विस्ट को दर्शाने वाली राशि है; कण भौतिकी में यह कण के स्पिन (कोणीय संवेग) का उसकी गति-दिशा पर प्रक्षेप (projection) होता है, और द्रव गतिकी में यह बताती है कि प्रवाह कितना सर्पिल/घूमता हुआ है (अक्सर वेग और वॉर्टिसिटी के संरेखण से संबंधित)।
