From Middle English gullet, from Old French goulet (“throat; narrow passage”), diminutive of goule (“throat, gullet”), ultimately from Latin gula (“throat”).
मध्य अंग्रेज़ी gullet से, जो पुराने फ़्रेंच goulet (“गला; संकरा मार्ग”) से आया है; यह goule (“गला/अन्ननलिका”) का लघुरूप है और मूलतः लैटिन gula (“गला”) से संबंधित है।
Definition
In anatomy, the gullet is the tube that carries food from the mouth to the stomach (the esophagus); in general use it can also mean the throat, and in animals/birds it refers to the food passage used for swallowing.
शरीर-विज्ञान में gullet वह नली है जो मुँह से भोजन को पेट तक पहुँचाती है (अन्ननलिका/ग्रासनली); सामान्य प्रयोग में इसका अर्थ ‘गला’ भी हो सकता है, और पशु-पक्षियों में यह निगलने वाली भोजन-नली/भोजन-मार्ग को दर्शाता है।
