Origin & History
From the verb "gruel" (to exhaust or punish severely), ultimately from Middle French "gruau" (oatmeal gruel); "grueling/gruelling" developed in English with the sense of 'wearing out'.
यह क्रिया "gruel" (बहुत थका देना/कठोरता से दंडित करना) से बना है; इसकी जड़ मध्य फ़्रांसीसी "gruau" (जई का पतला दलिया/ग्रुएल) से जुड़ी मानी जाती है; अंग्रेज़ी में "grueling/gruelling" का अर्थ 'थका देने वाला/चूर-चूर कर देने वाला' के रूप में विकसित हुआ।
Definition
Used to describe work, journeys, training, or experiences that are so demanding that they leave someone very tired; as a noun, it can mean a harsh ordeal, and in racing it can refer to a race that ends with the animal exhausted.
