जापानी शब्द fugu (フグ) से लिया गया, जिसका अर्थ है ‘पफरफिश/फुलने वाली मछली’।
Definition
Fugu refers to certain Japanese pufferfish (family Tetraodontidae) and the delicacy made from them; its organs may contain the potent toxin tetrodotoxin, so it is prepared by specially licensed chefs.
फुगु कुछ जापानी पफरफिश (टेट्राओडॉन्टिडी कुल) और उनसे बनने वाले व्यंजन को कहते हैं; इसके अंगों में शक्तिशाली ज़हर टेट्रोडोटॉक्सिन हो सकता है, इसलिए इसे विशेष लाइसेंस प्राप्त रसोइए ही तैयार करते हैं।
