Definition
Fugacity is (1) a thermodynamic quantity expressing how strongly a fluid tends to expand or escape from a system (often treated as an ‘effective pressure’), (2) a measure used to compare the stability of phases of a substance under the same conditions, and (3) in general usage, the quality of being fleeting or transient.
