Origin & History
From fluorescence (coined in the 19th century from Latin fluō 'to flow', via the mineral fluorite, known for its fluorescent effect) + -esce 'to become'.
fluorescence से व्युत्पन्न (19वीं शताब्दी में), जिसका स्रोत लैटिन fluō ‘बहना’ है; यह fluorite (फ्लोराइट) खनिज के नाम से जुड़ा है, जो फ्लोरेसेंस के लिए प्रसिद्ध है, तथा प्रत्यय -esce ‘हो जाना/बनना’ जुड़कर बना है।
Definition
To give off a bright visible glow when excited by ultraviolet light or other radiation (fluorescence), often stopping soon after the stimulus is removed.
पराबैंगनी प्रकाश या अन्य विकिरण से उत्तेजित होने पर चमकीली दृश्य रोशनी/दीप्ति (फ्लोरेसेंस) उत्सर्जित करना; उत्तेजना हटते ही यह चमक अक्सर जल्दी समाप्त हो जाती है।
