From Italian fermata, meaning “a stop” or “a holding,” from fermare “to stop, hold,” ultimately from Latin firmare “to make firm.”
इतालवी fermata से, जिसका अर्थ “रुकावट/ठहराव” या “थामकर रखना” है; यह fermare “रोकना, थामना” से आया है, जिसका मूल लैटिन firmare “मज़बूत/स्थिर करना” में मिलता है।
Definition
A fermata is a musical notation mark (often shaped like an arc with a dot) placed above or below a note, chord, or rest to show that it should be sustained or paused longer than written, with the exact length decided by the performer or conductor.
फर्माटा संगीत-लिपि का एक चिह्न है (अक्सर बिंदु के ऊपर अर्धचंद्राकार/चाप जैसा) जो किसी स्वर, कॉर्ड या विश्राम (रेस्ट) के ऊपर या नीचे लगाया जाता है और बताता है कि उसे लिखी हुई अवधि से अधिक समय तक रोका/थामे रखा जाए; इसकी सटीक अवधि वादक या संचालक (कंडक्टर) के विवेक पर होती है।
