farm + stead (अर्थ: “स्थान/ठिकाना”) से बना शब्द; stead का स्रोत पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी stede है जिसका अर्थ “स्थान” था। आधुनिक अंग्रेज़ी में यह संयुक्त शब्द मुख्यतः 18वीं–19वीं शताब्दी से प्रचलित मिलता है।
Definition
A farmstead is the set of buildings and the immediate area of land on a farm—typically the farmhouse, barns, sheds, yards, and nearby working spaces—considered together as a single homestead unit.
फार्मस्टेड खेत का वह भाग है जिसमें मुख्य घर (फार्महाउस), खलिहान/गोदाम, शेड, आँगन/बाड़ा और आसपास का उपयोगी क्षेत्र शामिल होता है—यानी खेत का आवासीय व कार्य-क्षेत्र एक इकाई के रूप में।
