From Latin *elasticus*, from Greek *elastos* ‘driving, impelling’ (later ‘capable of being stretched’), from *elaunein* ‘to drive’.

Definition
Elastic describes something that can be stretched, bent, or compressed and then returns to its original form; it also describes ideas, schedules, or rules that can change to fit different situations.
