From ecto- (“outside”) + parasitic (from Greek parasitos, “one who eats at another’s table”); used in biology/zoology for parasites living on a host’s exterior.

Definition
Ectoparasitic describes organisms (or their behavior) in which the parasite lives on the outside of the host—such as on the skin, fur, feathers, or outer body—rather than inside the host.
