From Greek éktasis/ektasis meaning “extension, stretching,” from ekteínein “to stretch out” (ek- “out” + teínein “to stretch”).

Definition
Ectasia is a medical term for an abnormal widening (dilation) of a body passage or vessel (such as a blood vessel, bronchus, bile duct, or part of the eye), often due to weakening of the wall and sometimes associated with disease.
एक्टेसिया (ectasia) एक चिकित्सीय शब्द है, जिसका अर्थ शरीर की किसी नलिकानुमा संरचना या रक्त-वाहिका (जैसे रक्त-नली, श्वासनली की शाखा, पित्त-नली, या आँख का कोई भाग) का असामान्य रूप से फैल जाना (विस्तारण/डाइलेशन) है; यह अक्सर दीवार की कमजोरी के कारण होता है और कभी-कभी रोग से जुड़ा रहता है।
