लैटिन distichon के माध्यम से यूनानी distikhon (दिस्टिखोन) से, जिसका अर्थ ‘दो-पंक्तियों का छंद’ है; di- ‘दो’ + stikhos ‘पंक्ति/कतार’ से बना।
Definition
A distich is a poetic unit of two lines (a couplet) that together express a complete thought; in adjectival use it can mean ‘distichous,’ i.e., arranged in two rows or ranks.
डिस्टिक (distich) कविता की दो पंक्तियों (युग्म/कपलेट) का ऐसा खंड है जो मिलकर पूरा अर्थ व्यक्त करे; विशेषण के रूप में इसका अर्थ ‘डिस्टिकस/द्विपंक्तीय’ भी हो सकता है, यानी दो कतारों में व्यवस्थित।
