“Devilled” is used (1) as a verb meaning to annoy/trouble someone, (2) to do ‘devil’ work—uncredited assisting for a writer/lawyer, and (3) in cooking, to make food spicy with strong seasonings; as an adjective it can mean ‘possessed by the Devil’ or ‘served in a spicy (devilled) sauce’.
