From depth charge (an anti-submarine explosive detonated underwater) + -ing, used from the early 20th century with the rise of naval anti-submarine warfare.
'डेप्थ चार्ज' (जल के भीतर फटने वाला पनडुब्बी-रोधी विस्फोटक) + '-ing' से; 20वीं सदी के आरम्भ में नौसैनिक पनडुब्बी-रोधी युद्ध के विकास के साथ प्रचलन में आया।
