From Ancient Greek deixis “pointing out, indication,” from deiknynai “to show, point out.” Entered modern linguistics via scholarly/technical usage.
प्राचीन यूनानी deixis (अर्थ: “संकेत करना/दिखाना”) से, जो deiknynai (अर्थ: “दिखाना, इंगित करना”) से बना है। आधुनिक भाषाविज्ञान में यह विद्वत/तकनीकी प्रयोग के माध्यम से प्रचलित हुआ।
Definition
Deixis is the way language “points” to people, places, times, and parts of the conversation using context-dependent expressions like I/you, here/there, now/then, this/that. The meaning of these expressions changes depending on who is speaking, where, and when.
डाइक्सिस (Deixis) भाषा की वह विशेषता है जिसमें कुछ शब्द/अभिव्यक्तियाँ संदर्भ (कौन बोल रहा है, कहाँ, कब, और बातचीत में किसकी बात हो रही है) के आधार पर अर्थ/संकेत देती हैं—जैसे I/you, here/there, now/then, this/that। इनका संदर्भ वक्ता, स्थान और समय बदलने पर बदल जाता है।
