From French décarburiser (to remove carbon) < dé- (removal) + carbur- (carbon/carburize) + -ise/-ize; used in metallurgy from the late 19th–early 20th century.
फ्रेंच décarburiser (कार्बन हटाना) से; dé- (हटाना) + carbur- (कार्बन/कार्बुराइज़) + -ise/-ize। धातुकर्म में इसका प्रयोग 19वीं सदी के अंत–20वीं सदी की शुरुआत से मिलता है।
Definition
Decarburising is the metallurgical process in which carbon content is lowered in steel or other iron alloys, often by heating in an oxidizing atmosphere so carbon near the surface reacts to form CO/CO₂, which can soften the surface and change hardness and strength.
डिकार्बराइज़िंग (decarburising) धातुकर्म की वह प्रक्रिया है जिसमें इस्पात या अन्य लौह मिश्रधातुओं में कार्बन की मात्रा घटाई/हटाई जाती है; प्रायः ऑक्सीकारक वातावरण में गरम करने पर सतह के पास का कार्बन अभिक्रिया करके CO/CO₂ बनाता है, जिससे सतह नरम हो सकती है और कठोरता व मजबूती के गुण बदल सकते हैं।
