संस्कृत ‘दशहर/दशमी’ (अर्थात ‘दसवाँ दिन’) से व्युत्पन्न; भारतीय भाषाओं में नवरात्रि के दसवें दिन (विजयादशमी) मनाए जाने वाले पर्व के लिए प्रचलित।
Definition
Dasara is a Hindu festival celebrated on the tenth day (Vijayadashami) after Navaratri, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil; it is associated with the victory of Goddess Durga over Mahishasura and, in many traditions, Lord Rama over Ravana.
दशहरा (दशारा) एक हिन्दू पर्व है जो नवरात्रि के बाद दसवें दिन (विजयादशमी) मनाया जाता है और बुराई पर अच्छाई की विजय का प्रतीक है; इसका संबंध देवी दुर्गा की महिषासुर पर विजय से तथा कई परंपराओं में भगवान राम की रावण पर विजय से भी जोड़ा जाता है।
