From Arabic dār as-salām, meaning “abode/house of peace”; adopted as the city’s name in the 19th century.
अरबी ‘दार السلام (dār as-salām)’ से, जिसका अर्थ है “शांति का घर/निवास”; 19वीं शताब्दी में यह नाम शहर के लिए अपनाया गया।
Definition
Dar-es-Salaam is Tanzania’s largest city on the Indian Ocean and a key port and business hub; it served as the national capital until government functions moved to Dodoma (though many offices remain in Dar es Salaam).
दार-ए-सलाम तंज़ानिया का हिंद महासागर तट पर स्थित सबसे बड़ा शहर है और एक प्रमुख बंदरगाह व व्यापारिक केंद्र है; यह पहले देश की राजधानी था, बाद में सरकारी कार्य डोडोमा स्थानांतरित किए गए (हालाँकि कई कार्यालय अभी भी दार-ए-सलाम में हैं)।
