From the verb “crib” (to copy/steal; earlier also “to confine”), from Middle English, related to “crib” meaning a manger/box; the “copy” sense developed by the 18th–19th centuries.
“crib” क्रिया से (नकल करना/चुराना; पहले अर्थ में “सीमित/बंद करना” भी), मध्य अंग्रेज़ी से; “crib” (चरनी/डिब्बा) वाले अर्थ से संबद्ध; “नकल” वाला अर्थ 18वीं–19वीं शताब्दियों में विकसित हुआ।
Definition
Used to describe words, ideas, answers, or work that have been copied—often secretly or without permission/acknowledgment; it can also mean “taken from” a source, and less commonly “kept in a narrow space/limited.”
इसका प्रयोग उन शब्दों, विचारों, उत्तरों या काम के लिए होता है जिन्हें—अक्सर छिपकर या बिना अनुमति/श्रेय के—किसी और स्रोत से नकल किया गया हो; कभी-कभी इसका अर्थ “किसी स्रोत से लिया हुआ” भी होता है, और कम प्रचलित रूप में “सीमित/बंधा हुआ” भी।
