यह ‘coppice’ क्रिया से बना है, जिसका संबंध पुरानी फ़्रांसीसी copeiz/coppiz से माना जाता है जिसका अर्थ ‘झाड़-झंखाड़/कॉपिस वन’ था; ‘coppicing’ उसी क्रिया का -ing रूप है जो इस अभ्यास को दर्शाता है।
Definition
Coppicing is a traditional woodland-management method where trees or shrubs are cut near ground level in cycles so new shoots regrow from the stump, providing sustainable wood/fuel; in biology it can also mean a plant’s ability to resprout from the stump.
कॉपिसिंग (coppicing) वानिकी/वन-प्रबंधन की एक पारंपरिक विधि है जिसमें पेड़ों या झाड़ियों को कुछ अंतरालों पर जमीन के पास से काट दिया जाता है ताकि ठूंठ से नए अंकुर निकलें और टिकाऊ रूप से लकड़ी/ईंधन मिलता रहे; जैविकी में इसका अर्थ ठूंठ से फिर से अंकुरित होने की क्षमता भी हो सकता है।
