From French collodion, coined in the 19th century from Greek kólla (“glue”) + -odion (a chemical-forming suffix).
फ्रेंच collodion से; 19वीं शताब्दी में ग्रीक kólla (“गोंद”) + -odion (रासायनिक प्रत्यय) से निर्मित शब्द।
Definition
Collodion is a thick, syrup-like liquid made by dissolving pyroxylin (nitrocellulose) in a mixture of alcohol and ether; when applied to skin or another surface it evaporates and leaves a transparent, flexible film, so it has been used for sealing small wounds (as a surgical dressing), for coating photographic plates (wet-plate processes), and in some lacquers/paints.
कोलॉडियन एक गाढ़ा, शरबत-जैसा द्रव है जो पाइरॉक्सिलिन/नाइट्रोसेलुलोज़ को अल्कोहल और ईथर के मिश्रण में घोलकर बनाया जाता है; त्वचा या किसी सतह पर लगाने पर यह उड़कर एक पारदर्शी, लचीली परत बना देता है, इसलिए इसका उपयोग छोटे घावों को सील करने (सर्जिकल ड्रेसिंग), फोटोग्राफिक प्लेटों की कोटिंग (वेट-प्लेट प्रक्रिया), और कुछ लैकर/पेंट में किया जाता रहा है।
