“Collapsing” is the present participle/gerund of “collapse” and describes something that is falling in, failing suddenly, being folded up, or (in UI/file trees) being reduced to a hidden/compact view; it can also be used for a team’s rapid loss of wickets, or for the act of making something fall down (e.g., collapsing a tent).
