मध्य अंग्रेज़ी clerestorie से; पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी clǣrestōw/clerestōw (‘क्लियर/प्रकाश देने वाली मंज़िल’) से, जिस पर एंग्लो-फ़्रेंच/पुरानी फ़्रेंच रूपों का प्रभाव रहा; अर्थ उस ऊपरी मंज़िल/भाग से है जहाँ खिड़कियाँ रोशनी भीतर लाती हैं।
Definition
Clerestories are the upper windowed parts of a building (often above the roofline of side aisles) that bring daylight into the central space, commonly seen in churches, basilicas, and large halls.
क्लेरेस्टोरी किसी इमारत (अक्सर चर्च या बड़े हॉल) की दीवार का ऊपरी भाग होता है जिसमें आँखों की ऊँचाई से ऊपर खिड़कियाँ होती हैं; ये खिड़कियाँ भीतर के केंद्रीय हिस्से में प्राकृतिक रोशनी (और कभी-कभी हवा) पहुँचाने के लिए बनाई जाती हैं।
