From Italian capotasto, literally “head (capo) of the fretboard/neck (tasto)”; used in music terminology for a clamp that shortens string length to raise pitch.
इतालवी capotasto से, जिसका शाब्दिक अर्थ है “गर्दन/फ्रेटबोर्ड (tasto) का सिर/शीर्ष (capo)”; संगीत-शब्दावली में यह ऐसे क्लैम्प के लिए प्रयुक्त हुआ जो तारों की लंबाई घटाकर सुर ऊँचा करता है।
Definition
A capotasto (capo) is a clamp-like device placed on a specific fret of a guitar or other fretted instrument, pressing all (or selected) strings so the instrument plays in a higher key without changing chord shapes.
कैपोटास्टो (कैपो) गिटार या अन्य फ्रेट वाले वाद्य के गर्दन (नेक) पर किसी खास फ्रेट पर लगाया जाने वाला क्लैम्प-जैसा उपकरण है, जो सभी (या चुनिंदा) तारों को दबाकर तारों की कंपन-लंबाई घटाता है और बिना कॉर्ड शेप बदले सुर/की को ऊँचा कर देता है।
