From Yiddish bime, ultimately from Hebrew bīmāh (“raised platform, dais”).
यिडिश ‘bime’ से; मूलतः हिब्रू ‘bīmāh’ (अर्थ: ऊँचा मंच/चबूतरा) से।
Definition
In a synagogue, the bima is the elevated platform (often central or at the front) where the Torah scroll is placed and read aloud during services.
आराधनालय (सिनेगॉग) में ‘बीमा’ वह ऊँचा मंच/चबूतरा होता है (अक्सर बीच में या सामने), जहाँ तोराह की पवित्र ग्रंथ-पुस्तक रखकर धार्मिक सभाओं में पाठ किया जाता है।
