From Bidar (a town in present-day Karnataka, India) + ware; the craft developed in the Deccan under medieval Indo-Persian cultural influences and became associated with Bidar’s workshops.
'Bidar' (कर्नाटक, भारत का एक नगर) + 'ware' से बना शब्द; यह शिल्प दक्कन में मध्यकालीन इंडो-फ़ारसी सांस्कृतिक प्रभावों के अंतर्गत विकसित हुआ और बीदर की कारीगरी/कारखानों से विशेष रूप से जुड़ गया।

Bidriware is a traditional Indian metal craft, typically cast from a darkened zinc-based alloy and then inlaid with silver to create contrasting designs on items such as bowls, vases, plates, boxes, and hookah bases; it is closely associated with the town of Bidar and the Deccan region.
बिदरीवेयर भारतीय पारंपरिक धातु-शिल्प है, जो सामान्यतः काले किए गए जस्ता-आधारित मिश्रधातु पर बनाया जाता है और उस पर चाँदी (कभी-कभी पीतल) की जड़ाई करके कटावदार/उभरी आकृतियाँ बनाई जाती हैं; यह कटोरे, फूलदान, थाल, डिब्बे, हुक्का-आधार आदि वस्तुओं में मिलता है और मुख्यतः कर्नाटक के बीदर तथा दक्कन क्षेत्र से संबद्ध है।
