Definition
A beta-block (beta-blocker) is a medicine that reduces the effects of adrenaline and noradrenaline by blocking beta-adrenergic receptors, typically slowing heart rate and lowering blood pressure; it is used for conditions such as hypertension, angina, certain irregular heart rhythms, heart failure (certain types), and sometimes migraine prevention or performance anxiety.
