Origin & History
Formed from belay (to secure a rope; also a nautical command) + the suffix -able (“capable of”). Belay comes via nautical usage, ultimately from Old English belæg (“a lying around, a surrounding”).
belay (रस्सी को सुरक्षित करना; तथा नौसैनिक आदेश) + प्रत्यय -able (“योग्य/सक्षम”) से बना। belay का प्रयोग नौसैनिक परंपरा से आया; इसकी जड़ें अंततः पुरानी अंग्रेज़ी belæg (“चारों ओर पड़ा/घेराव”) से जुड़ी मानी जाती हैं।
Definition
In climbing and mountaineering, belayable describes a feature, stance, anchor, or route section where a belay can be safely set up—i.e., there is a reliable attachment point and space/position to manage the rope and protect a climber.
चढ़ाई और पर्वतारोहण में belayable का अर्थ है ऐसा स्थान/विशेषता/स्टांस/एंकर या मार्ग का हिस्सा जहाँ सुरक्षित रूप से बेलै (रस्सी से सुरक्षा) लगाया जा सके—अर्थात वहाँ भरोसेमंद एंकर बिंदु और रस्सी संभालने व climber को सुरक्षित रखने के लिए उचित जगह/स्थिति हो।
