From the noun "bead" (Middle English bede, from Old English gebed meaning "prayer"; later "bead" as a small perforated ball used in rosaries), plus the adjectival suffix -ed meaning "having/covered with".
संज्ञा "bead" से (मध्य अंग्रेज़ी bede, प्राचीन अंग्रेज़ी gebed ‘प्रार्थना’ से; बाद में माला/जपमाला में प्रयुक्त छोटे छिद्रयुक्त गोल दाने के अर्थ में), और विशेषण बनाने वाला प्रत्यय -ed (अर्थ: ‘युक्त/से ढका हुआ’) जोड़कर बना।
