From English beach + head (as in ‘headland’/‘forward position’); originally a World War–era military term meaning a captured and held area on a shore for landing forces; later broadened to mean any initial foothold.
अंग्रेज़ी beach (समुद्र-तट) + head (आगे/प्रमुख स्थिति) से बना; मूलतः विश्व-युद्ध काल का सैन्य शब्द—तट पर कब्ज़ा करके रखा गया ऐसा क्षेत्र जहाँ से सेनाएँ उतारी जाएँ; बाद में इसका अर्थ किसी भी प्रकार की शुरुआती मजबूत पकड़/फुटहोल्ड तक विस्तृत हो गया।
Definition
In military use, beachheads are secured coastal positions captured from an enemy to allow continuous landing and deployment of troops, vehicles, and supplies; by extension, the word also means early successes that provide a stable foothold for further advances in a plan or project.
सैन्य संदर्भ में, ‘beachheads’ वे सुरक्षित तटीय क्षेत्र होते हैं जिन्हें शत्रु क्षेत्र में कब्ज़ा करके इस तरह स्थापित किया जाता है कि आगे और सैनिक, वाहन व सामग्री लगातार उतारी/तैनात की जा सके; विस्तार से यह किसी योजना या परियोजना में शुरुआती सफलता/मजबूत पकड़ (फुटहोल्ड) का भी अर्थ देता है जिससे आगे बढ़ना संभव हो जाता है।
