Origin & History
Formed from the prefix a- meaning ‘not, without’ + pyroelectric (from Greek pyr ‘fire/heat’ + electric, from Greek ēlektron ‘amber’).
a- उपसर्ग (‘नहीं/रहित’) + pyroelectric से निर्मित; pyroelectric ग्रीक pyr (‘आग/ऊष्मा’) + electric (ग्रीक ēlektron ‘अंबर’) से।
Definition
Describing a material that does not exhibit pyroelectricity—i.e., it does not develop surface electric polarization/charge when its temperature changes (unlike pyroelectric crystals such as tourmaline).
ऐसे पदार्थ का वर्णन जो पायरो-विद्युतता (pyroelectricity) नहीं दिखाता—अर्थात तापमान बदलने पर उसकी सतह पर विद्युत ध्रुवण/आवेश उत्पन्न नहीं होता (टूमर्लीन जैसे पायरो-विद्युत क्रिस्टलों के विपरीत)।
